The Problem
We dump a ton of time into endless pit of content, even though we don't want to.
Algorithms control us by striking at our primal instinscts. They make us watch "just one more video". Even when we visit YT to watch something important gazillion of shining thumbnails makes us lose focus, and drives us into the trap.
It's exhausting and flustrating.
Our Philosophy
For others, like YouTube, we think that even in its current attention-sucking implementation, it provides too much value to skip entirely. But it would be awesome if it were easier to use YouTube for what our "rational self" wants — like learning new stuff, watching quality entertainment, and not falling into the "Cat Videos" or equivalent brain rot rabbit hole.
Our Solution
To enable this "easier" healthy use of YouTube (and in the future, possibly other addicting websites), we made 10CHANMONKEY. It acts as an interface that only shows you what you want to see, in a non-distractive manner:
- Only one video on the main page based on your preferences
- Daily time budget specification that filters your content
- Forced limit on channels you follow
- Stats of watched videos to stay aware
