10ChanMonkey ("we", "our", "the Service") is a web application that helps users organize and manage their YouTube viewing habits. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

10ChanMonkey uses YouTube API Services. By using 10ChanMonkey, you acknowledge and agree that your use is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes. This is the only personally identifiable information we require.

YouTube API Data

10ChanMonkey accesses the following data through YouTube API Services to provide our service:

  • Channel information: Channel name, handle, URL, description, thumbnail image URL, subscriber count, and video count for channels you choose to follow
  • Video metadata: Video title, description, thumbnail image URL, published date, duration, view count, like count, and comment count for videos from your subscribed channels

This data is retrieved from YouTube API Services and stored in our database to provide the service. YouTube video statistics (view counts, like counts, comment counts, subscriber counts, video counts) are automatically refreshed or deleted within 30 days in accordance with YouTube API Services Developer Policies.

Usage Data

  • Watch sessions: We track your daily watch time to help you stay within your self-set viewing budget
  • Video progress: We store your playback position so you can resume videos where you left off, and track which videos you have completed
  • Playlist data: Videos you add to your personal playlist and their ordering
  • Channel priorities: Your channel priority preferences that determine the order of your video feed

Subscription & Payment Data

Payment information is processed securely through Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. We do not store your payment card details — these are handled entirely by Stripe.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Service: Displaying your subscribed channels and their videos, tracking watch time, saving playback progress, and managing your playlists
  • Authentication: Verifying your identity and maintaining your logged-in session
  • Subscription management: Processing payments and managing your subscription status through Stripe
  • Service improvement: Anonymous, aggregated analytics (via Vercel Analytics) to understand how the Service is used and identify performance issues

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your information is shared only with the following service providers that are necessary to operate the Service:

  • Supabase: Database hosting and authentication — stores your account data, channel preferences, watch history, and video metadata
  • Stripe: Payment processing — receives your payment information directly and shares subscription status with us
  • Vercel: Application hosting and anonymous analytics — collects anonymized page view and performance data
  • YouTube API Services (Google): We send API requests to retrieve channel and video metadata. Your YouTube account is not connected to 10ChanMonkey — we only access publicly available data

We do not share your personal information with any other external parties.

Cookies, Tracking & Device Storage

10ChanMonkey and its third-party service providers store, access, and collect information directly and indirectly on or from your device, including by placing, accessing, or recognizing cookies and similar technologies on your device or browser, as described below:

Cookies Set by 10ChanMonkey

  • Authentication cookies (Supabase): Essential cookies that maintain your logged-in session. These are required for the app to function and cannot be disabled.
  • Remember me preference: When you check "Remember me" during login, your session persists for 30 days. Otherwise, it expires when you close your browser.

Local Storage

  • Language preference: Your selected language is stored in your browser's local storage for a consistent experience.
  • Theme preference: Your selected visual theme and color mode are stored in your browser's local storage.

Third-Party Cookies & Tracking

  • YouTube (Google): When you watch a video, the YouTube IFrame Player API may set cookies on your device. We do not control these cookies. For details, see How Google uses cookies.
  • Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights: We use Vercel's analytics services to collect anonymized page view and performance metrics. These services may use cookies or similar technologies. For details, see Vercel Analytics Privacy Policy.

Data Retention & Deletion

YouTube video and channel statistics (view counts, like counts, comment counts, subscriber counts, video counts) are refreshed or deleted within 30 days of retrieval, in compliance with YouTube API Services Developer Policies.

Your account data, watch history, playlists, and preferences are retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page, which will permanently remove all your data from our systems.

10ChanMonkey Browser Extension

The 10ChanMonkey browser extension is designed with privacy in mind:

  • No data collection: The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any user data
  • No tracking: We do not track your browsing history or behavior
  • No analytics: The extension contains no analytics or telemetry code
  • Local only: All redirect rules are processed locally in your browser

The extension's sole function is to redirect YouTube URLs to the 10ChanMonkey web application. It requires host permissions for YouTube domains only to perform these redirects.

Google Privacy Policy

10ChanMonkey uses YouTube API Services. By using our Service, your use of YouTube content is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

You can manage your Google security and privacy settings, including YouTube API data permissions, through the Google Security Settings page.

Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

By using 10ChanMonkey, you agree to these Terms of Service. Additionally, by using 10ChanMonkey, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

Account Usage

By creating an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the service, including but not limited to: attempting to access other users' accounts, reverse-engineering the application, circumventing usage limits, or using the service for any unlawful purpose.

YouTube Content

All video content displayed within 10ChanMonkey is embedded via the official YouTube IFrame Player API and remains hosted on YouTube. We do not host, download, or redistribute any video content. Your use of embedded YouTube content is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.

10ChanMonkey does not sell, lease, lend, redistribute, or sublicense any YouTube content or YouTube API Services. Our subscription fee covers access to 10ChanMonkey's proprietary features (time budgeting, channel prioritization, playlist management, and watch progress tracking) — not access to YouTube content, which remains freely available on YouTube.

Service Availability

We strive to keep 10ChanMonkey available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from service downtime.

Subscription & Payment

Paid subscriptions are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. Subscription details, billing cycles, and cancellation policies are presented during the checkout process. We do not store your payment card details.
